Keeping in Touch with Campers

Campers do not have phone, fax or e-mail access during camp. We know this can be tough for parents, but campers get the most benefit when they can fully immerse themselves in the camp experience. Calls to or from home often bring up homesickness that wouldn't otherwise have been an issue.

Instead, we encourage parents and campers to write letters, a novelty in the electronic era! You might want to send your first letter a day or two before your camper departs; it takes mail a little longer to get to Ravencliff’s remote location. In the unlikely event that a camper was homesick beyond the first day or two, staff would make the determination to call home and get the parent involved. So, no news is good news!
